Description

This edge-on spiral galaxy in Andromeda is also known as Caldwell 20, as well as The Outer Limits Galaxy and the Silver Sliver Galaxy (Wikipedia).  The wide field image was simply amazing showing so many small galaxies, but I thought the cropped view really was the best representation.  This was an unexpectedly fun target given the new tools of SPCC and BXT.  Other than some (new) issues with overcorrecting flats, the rest of the data was clean and the drizzle integration  looked better than the non-DI image. For the first time in a long time, I did not touch color balance after SPCC (or PCC).  Did not apply any SCNR.  In addition, I resisted the temptation to oversaturate the galaxy, and the end result, I think, is cleaner. Finally, this is probably the first image where I really didn't add any impactful additional editing in Photoshop; this was pretty much the appearance straight out of PI.   To paraphrase Adam Block, it is a lot of fun to process (and reprocess) with these powerful new tools, and as a relative newbie to AP and PI, I can't wait to see what is next!
