Description

IC 4603 is a reflection nebula and part of the Rho Ophiuchi or Antares region. This part of the sky is a very active star forming region and shows spectacular colorful reflection nebulae, as well as dark nebulae. Hidden in those dark nebulae are typicial objects, like Herbig-Haro objects, T-Tauri Stars or so called YSOs, young stellar objects. Some new born stars make their way through the dust clouds and form little, flag-like reflection nebulae. In this part of the sky we can see how new stars were form, right in our cosmic backyard.
