Description

Man, this hobby is addictive. After four clear nights in a row, I was ready for a break. But the upcoming week-long bad weather, didn't come in as quickly as forecast, so I started to image again.

I have been avoiding the Leo Trio up until now, since a) everyone does it far better than me b) From a latitude of -45 the odds are stacked against you. Nevertheless it is bright, and with the clouds gathering it would at least provide me more data to improve my post-processing skills.

I managed to get just over 2 hours of data - 1 hour either side of the meridian before I lost the guide star totally to cloud.

I did have a little bit of fun (I really do need to get out more) with the post-processing. Improving my star-reduction skills (eventually a monkey will type Shakespeare) and balancing my wavelets (sharpening v noise reduction).

Given the conditions - particular at a zd of 60 - I am reasonable happy with the result. Now onto the reduction of Thor's Helmet. Oh joy!
