Description

M16 The Eagle Nebula.  First light with a fresh recoat of my primary mirror and my new Ostahowski oversized flat.  This was the last on my list for the summer.  I shot this in two nights for a total of only 5.7 hours due to fires and clouds and apple trees.  Fortunately my 13.1" is a photon hoarder so I got the detail I wanted.

The pillars will never have the detail that I want using this scope, but The rest of the nebula is still breathtaking!

Funny Story-when I bought my Baader MPCC ten years ago, it came with a 1.25 stopdown ring attached for APSC sensors (I'm still trying to figure out why it was there in the first place).  I had no idea it didn't need to be there or that it could be removed.  I removed it 3 months ago trying to solve a massive vignetting problem on my 6D full-frame and, well...there ya go.  10 years later I'm still an idiot, but at least I'm an idiot with a fully illuminated field!
