Description

This is a combination of data taken over a couple of nights late in the year before the rains descended upon us. One night of data was 6 x 8 minute live stacks of 320 x 1.5 second subs with an IDAS filter and the other night was 4 x 8 minute live stacks of 240 x 2 second subs with an IR/UV Cut filter. I stacked the two sets of images, preprocessed them for noise and then blended the two images together before doing final processing. The total exposure time is therefore 80 minutes.

The outer regions are faint making them difficult to capture from the suburbs, but the internal structure of the brighter regions showed themselves fairly well. plenty of HII regions intermixed wit dust can be seen, along with numerous O-B associations.

I'll probably get a chance again sometime next fall to get more data on nights with good seeing to improve the results here. Maybe sooner if I can get to a dark sky site in the next couple of months with good seeing and a western view. My western view from home is completely blocked. However, the eastern part of my sky is the darkest, so imaging west of the meridian would not produce as good a result.

Description: I noticed I accidentally set the sky black point a little darker than I had intended, so have corrected it here. I think its an improvement? A little more of the galaxy's edge is apparent.
