Description

Friedrich August Theodor Winnecke discovered this peculiar galaxy in 1876. It is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Camleopardis, galaxy type SB(S)ab pec.
The galaxy's most conspicuous feature is the dusty lanes of a spiral arm lying across the core of the galaxy as seen from Earth, the arm having been bent 45 degrees by a close encounter with a smaller galaxy possibly NGC 2146a about 0.8 billion years ago. This close encounter is credited with the relatively high rates of star formation that qualify NGC 2146 as a starburst galaxy. It has a diameter of 70,000 - 80,000 lyr.It has been host to two known supernova events:
  • SN 2005V, a type Ib/c supernova discovered by LIRIS on 30 January 2005.
  • SN 2018zd, a type II supernova (possibly type IIn and maybe the first electron-capture supernova), was discovered on 2 March 2018 by Koichi Itagaki.

I am progressing further in my deepsky-Mak funproject, this image seems to be the best so far from this setup.
After solving several problems between hard- and software I am still struggling with polar alignment in NINA with the AM5. The measurments seem good, but then I always have drift. NINA is correcting this in the advanced sequencer after every 5 images, but this drift prevents exposuretimes exceeding 90s. At the moment I have no solution for that.

The very special IMX432 sensor likes darkflats more than BIAS-frames, images are much easier to process if you take that into account.
