My first NB image with my new ASI 1600 MM-P. What a camera! I used Ha channel for Luminance without denoising it at all.

For the postprocessing I used the Tone Mapping technique by JP Metsavainio. I removed the stars form each channel with Starnet then re-linearized it and applied a strong denoise with the EZ Denoise script. I blended the three channels using a dynamic blend. You can read about it on TheColdestNight website.

For the LUM, I used Ha and applied only deconvolution for sharpening, then used LRGB combination.

To achieve the colors I wanted, I used the ColorShifter script.

As for the stars... I found that it was better to use some RGB datas that I took some nights ago before the clouds rolled in. In the end I had 2 sets of stars: the small and the large. I introduced them separately using 2 different starmasks: the small stars I introduced them as they were, while on the big stars I accentuated the saturation and brightness to make them colorful. Hey, it's a Christmas tree! Who likes a Christmas tree without balls?

Acquisition:

RGB: 5 X 120s for each RGB (stars), gain 75 offset 50 T -15°C

Ha: 61 X 360s gain 200 offset 50 T -15°C

OIII: 101 X 360s gain 200 offset 50 T -15°C

SII: 33 X 480s gain 200 offset 50 T -15°C

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
