Description

Dumbbell Nebula (M27) an exploded star which use to be about the size of our sun, now a tiny white dwarf at the center, which is emitting copious amounts of UV and illuminating the remains. To the right circling a K2 star about 0.8 the size of the sun is an exoplanet about 1.2x that of Jupiter. My new game is measuring the light changes coming from stars with planets. By comparing the light of the exoplanet star to stable neighbors you can measure amazingly small differences. The light curve below was taken over about 4hrs. The Nebula consists of about 4hrs of LRGB data. The nebula is about 1300 lyr away the star is only 26 lyrs away. From the information you can learn things such as the ratio planet to star radius. It part of a citizen science program to beta test exoplanet software and eventually to help Pros keep track of the position of Exoplanets for future study with new giant telescopes.
