Description

I built a small rig consisting of an old Questar tripod, an iOptron Skyguider Pro mount, and a T-Ring system made by Astromydium in Canada. The T-Ring system is used to support my Rokinon 135mm lens and Canon Ra camera. William Optics parts were obtained to make this system work like a miniature telescope on an equatorial mount allowing it to be perfectly balanced.

On 12/14/23, I imaged the Orion Complex and captured 50 light frames at ISO 800 for 120 seconds. I also took flat frames and darks. I decided to create a composite image since my preliminary imaging to frame the target was done in my tree line. So when the final image was composed, I placed it in the exact position it was in one of my earlier framing shots.

PixInsight was used to stack the lights, darks, flats and bias frames via WBPP. Some of the processing was done in PI until a starless and star image were achieved and these stretched images were then taken into Photoshop for further processing.

I took artistic liberty by adding star spikes to bring out the belt stars of Orion. I did not guide since the light frames were of relatively short duration.
