Description

I observed this object on 6 June 2015 at the General Nathan Twining Observatory (GNTO) in New Mexico using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: Easily located using right triangle with Theta and 36 Ophiuchi. The cluster is small and dim but appears to be well concentrated. I classify it as V.

I observed this object on 25 September 2016 at the Okie-Tex Star Party using a 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian: This globular cluster is a dim patch at 63x. Additional magnification did not make it easier to see.

I obtained the calibrated lights frames used to create the final image from Telescope Live. The frames were imaged by the CHI-1-CMOS Telescope at the El Sauce Observatory in Chile.

Shapley Sawyer Classification: Not classified.
Distance: 30,989 LY
Type: Hub Globular
Position w.r.t. core of galaxy: Just above the core of the Milky Way.
Any stars resolved: No
Undergoing Core Collapse: Yes
