Description

Small but bright, I decided to go for lucky Imaging on this target, around 2500 ly away. The total Integration time of LRGB only amounts to 1 hour. I added 3,5 hours of Ha with long exposures to capture the dimmer Hydrogen Shell around the bright core, adding up to 1082 subs. I also captured O3 and S2, which also show very strong signals in the core, though that data didn’t make it in the final rendition. This object was difficult to process, to say the least. I probably spent more time on trying to balance the colours and adding the Ha, then capturing the data. The result is nothing special, but as I put so much effort into this target, I don’t feel like hiding it away on my hard drive.
The luminance was drizzle integrated x 2, the other channels were upscaled accordingly and the final image is a quite dramatic crop, as M57 is only around 3 by 2.5 arc’. Imaged with 1150mm focal length at a scale of .68 arc“/pixel CS
