Description

Bortle 8 skies, and no astro darkness, means that right now I'm limiting this to 15s exposures!  Luckily running the camera on Bin2 dramatically reduces file size.

I'm actually quite pleased with how this old ETX125 is performing.  I hope to get more data on this target but let's see whether the skies allow that!

Title: NGC6888 - Bortle 8 with a Mak - 3hrs of data

Description: With 2 more hours of data from the original version. Still a work in progress.

Title: 7h12 of data

Description: This is 7h12 of data - all taken as 15s lights because of the LP & moon brightness. Quite happy with the way the little ETX125 punched to be honest. But pausing this target now as 1700+ lights of 5Mb each took a l-o-n-g time on an old Mac.

I will upload a differently processed version of this data as another revision because of what that shows, but aesthetically I think is the final version (for the time being :) ).

Title: More heavily stretched 7h12 of data

Description: I stretched this a bit further and its interesting to see more of the fainter nebulosity come out. I wonder if this is more O3-rich nebulosity being revealed (it certainly seems to map to it based on some narrowband images). Obviously 7h12 still too short but that's it for the time being.

I'm not sure which I prefer - this revision E or revision D.

Also, based on the comparative change of the image from revisions B and C (with half the data), is the incremental broadband data worth it?

Title: The FINAL version!

Description: I couldn't make my mind up between revisions D & E, so someone sensibly suggested "why don't you do it somewhere between them"! And it works - here Pixel Match combination of D & E in a relative balance that is better for my eyes. Now sayonara to the Crescent and on to the Dumbbell!

Title: Reprocessed with BXT2

Description: Reprocessed from scratch with BXT2. Still used the same overall process of PCC then SXT and then GHS separately on the images before recombining, Putting it through NXT. And some light tweaks in GIMP. So the colours won't be the same as previously, but I was more interested in seeing the improvement on aberrations and tilt after BXT2 and there it does make a difference.
