Description

Crab Nebula - M1 - NGC 1952 - SN 1054: This one of the most enigmatic objects in our night sky. Very few objects can rival its amount of analysis by astronomers. A rather strange fact is that Charles Messier identified this object as the number 1 nuisance in his hunt for comets 😃, hence it's M1. As most of us know, this is the remnant of a supernova which got visible from earth exactly 966 years ago in 1054AD. M1 was the first astronomical object identified that corresponds with a historical supernova explosion.
