Description

Nebula ngc281 known as Pacman, is an H I region located in the constellation Cassiopeia, about 9500al away. It is a huge cloud of gas (virtually hydrogen) and plasma (ionized gas) in which there is an intense formation of stars. These young, hot and massive stars are mostly of the spectral type O and emit enormous ultraviolet radiation, which ionizes the hydrogen in the nebula (makes it lose an electron, so the hydrogen is no longer neutral at all). be a cation (ion with a positive charge), causing it to emit that characteristic reddish light of emission nebulae.

As is common in this type of nebula, we can find a few #Bok globules, which are small dark nebulosities of gas and dust denser than the rest of the nebula and in which star formation occurs. The dark lane that runs through it is already an icon of astrophotography.
