Description

Seen through a thick veil of galactic dust and stars, IC 342 is significantly dimmed and reddened but still a magnificent sight. At a mere 10 million light years distance, it would be a showpiece were it not situated where it is in our sky. It's still beautiful though, a nearly perfect Grand Design Sb spiral.

Image acquired at Sugar Grove Observatory, a facility of Twin City Amateur Astronomers (tcaa.us).
