Description

Arp 205, ngc 3448 is a peculiar galaxy located in Ursa Major. It is paired with and interacting with, the barred irregular galaxy UGC 6016. Bridging material can be seen between the 2 galaxies and beyond to the left of the larger galaxy, ngc 3448. NGC 3448 is magnitude 11.7 and redshift data indicates a distance of 70MLy. UGC 6016 is mag. 15.2 and has similar redshift.

I managed to locate 1 quasar in close proximity to the pair, z=1.5, mag. 19.

Arp 205 is classified as 'material ejected from nucleus'.

My image, acquired using AstroArt3 is the result of 30x120 second exposures in May this year when the group was reasonable high in the sky, 68 degrees high in fact.
