Description

I captured a two-frame mosaic of Andromeda with a 10" CDK and Apogee U16M from a dark sky site, then added color data from a HyperStar 9.25" and ZWO ASI294 camera from my backyard. 10.33 hours total exposure time over two nights.

I used an Optolong L-Pro for the basic color data, then added data from an L-eNhance filter which brought out the red HII regions.

Capture and stacking in MaxIm DL. PixInsight for background extraction, color balance, non-linear stretching, deconvolution, noise reduction. Microsoft ICE for mosaic composition. MaxIm DL again for alignment of the luminance mosaic with the color images. Photoshop for combination of the L and color data, plus further enhancements.

Monochrome:
AG Optical CDK 10" f/6.7, Apogee U16M, Baader L filter, 22 x 600 sec per frame, SQM 21.4

Color:
Celestron 9.25" SCT, HyperStar v4 f/2.2, ZWO ASI294MC, Optolong L-Pro = 120 x 60 sec, Optolong L-eNhance filter = 30 x 120 sec, SQM 20.1
