NGC 2174, The Monkey Head Nebula is a hydrogen emission nebula in the constellation Orion. approximately 6400 light years from Earth. At its center is an open cluster, NGC 2175. The nebula is largely composed of hydrogen and is an area of star formation with young stars at the center of the nebula [1].
The original image is HSO with RGB stars. I processed this both as SHO and HSO and decided I preferred the seething fire of the HSO to the pastoral serenity of the SHO.
The problem with the HSO is that the details are obscured and, a week or so later I went back and tried SHO again and, in the end, prefer the Final Image.
