Description

Rosette Nebula / NGC 2237 / Caldwell 49 - What a wondeful name for such a wondeful celestial object. Rosette means rose like arrangement. There are two images of the Rosette nebula here. The first one is a widefield view of the nebula and the second one is a higher resolution image of the central part. Rosettta nebula is situated 5 thousand light years away in the Monoceros constealltion. Diamter of the nebula is around 130 light years. The stars in the centre are blowing away the surrounding clouds that's why it looks holo at the centre. There are around 2500 young stars in the dense part of the nebula.
