Description:
Used Adaptive Stretch and Starnet
Used starnet to get an image without the stars - used this to create a luminance mask - then used range mask on the lum mask so ended up with a fairly isolated nebula mask.
Was then able to raise overall brightness and saturation fairly exclusively in the nebula.
As final image is too large - having to load up jpg version instead of normal 32 bit png

Description:
Third times the charm.
Combination of clouds and broken ankle mean that i am reprocessing some old data with new info and techniques (not sure if they would be classed as improvements - but that is in the eye of the beholder)
new methods:
1: WBPP - go as far as debayer for each panel separately
2: Use Sub Frame Selector on debayered files to work out which subs i should use. Was very fussy about Eccentricity, Star Count, FWHM
3: Resubmit the newly selected subs to WBPP to produce 9 separate panels
4: Script - Mosaic By Coordinates
5: Script - Trim Mosaic Tiles
6: Split into separate RGB channels
7: Use dnaLinearFit using center panel as reference for all 3 separate channels
8: Use Gradient Merge Mosaic process with a shrink radius of 6 and a feature radius of 120 for each of the RGB panels to produce a 3 separate mosaics (RGB)
9: Channel Combine RGB
10: Dynamic Crop to remove mosaic edges
11: Separate channels again and apply ABE on all 3 before re-combining
12: Photometric Color Calibration
13: Script - EZ Denoise
14: Script - EZ Soft Stretch
15: Script - EZ Star Reduction (Colour image)
16: Extract Luminance layer and use Histogram Transformation to darken the black areas
17: Use LRGB Combination on the colour image using rhe Luminance layer just produced and the RGB disabled, the Saturation was set to 0.3.
18 Repeat 17 until colours became brighter

The “AstroBin Image of the Day and Top Picks”, or IOTD/TP, is a long-running system to promote beautiful, interesting, peculiar, or otherwise amazing astrophotographs, with a focus on technical excellence. Learn more.
Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration. | ... |
---|---|
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew. | |
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected. | |
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status. | |
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members. |
This image cannot be submitted for the IOTD/TP consideration.
