J'ai choisi la nébuleuse d'Orion (M42) pour mon premier essai à l'astrophotographie. La photo représente en tout 50 minutes de poses (100 * 30s at 800iso). J'avais à la base fait plus de 80 minutes de pose, mais DeepSkyStacker ne m'a sélectionné que 100 photos.

La lune était de sortie ce soir là et le moment n'était pas forcément opportun pour faire du ciel profond, mais j'avais envie d'essayer tout de même !

Il y a beaucoup à dire sur cette photo. Je serais reconnaissant de chaque conseil que vous pourriez me donner, notamment pour rendre mes étoiles plus ponctuelles (sur la droite), mais aussi de manière générale.

Cela ne rendra mes photos que meilleures !

I chose the Orion Nebula for my first try at Astrophotography. This is the result of 50 minutes of integration (100 * 30s at 800iso). I did manage to do more but DeepSkyStacker only selected 100 pictures…

The moon was also really bright at that time, it was definitely not the time to do deep-sky astrophotography, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway !

There is a lot to say about this picture, so I'd very welcome for any piece of advise you could give me (especially for the stars that are not turning crazy on the right).

This can only make my photos better. Have a good one !

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
