Description

Here's an image of the "Horseshoe Nebula" taken from observatory in the early morning hours this past Wednesday. Although its official designation is M17, skywatchers have various nicknames for this nebula, including the Swan, Omega, Lobster -- but I think it does look like Horseshoe This peculiar looking nebula is more than 5000 light years from the Earth and is a vast cloud of dust / gas ripe for star formation, sort of a stellar nursery in space. The image consists of a two hour integration of exposures taken with my C14 telescope / ASI071 camera combo.
