Description

The Pinwheel Galaxy (also known as Messier 101) is 21 million light-years distant located in Ursa Major and measures 169 thousand light years in diameter.  This is an over seven-hour exposure imaged with a six-inch refractor using both monochrome and color CMOS cameras and a hydrogen alpha filter to enhance the reddish star-forming regions in the galaxy’s spiral arms.
