Description

I particularly like this object as it took over 60 years till I lived in a place where I could see it!  First time I viewed it, from a spot a few hours north of my current location, at first I thought it was just a faint cloud on the horizon, until it suddenly hit me, after I checked a star map, that it "might" be omega C.  I excitedly called up a fellow amateur astronomer who lived nearby and he confirmed that what I was looking at was probably o C.  A real "WOW!" moment for me!  It's still a bit low on the horizon where I am now, and even though there's not much light pollution at my location, the particular area of the horizon where it appears does have a small light dome.  But still a beautiful sight!
