Description

Surface of the sun is laden with lot of features like granules, sunspots, faculae and filaments. Granules results due to convection heating of hot gases analogues to bubbles appearing on the surface of boiling water. Sunspots are caused due to concentration of magnetic field, they appear darker than their surrounding and have temperature lesser than the surface of the sun. Faculae are brighter regions surrounding the darker sunspots. Filaments are the energy released from the broken magnetic field on the surface of the sun and appear to stretch like dark lines on the sun's surface.
