Description

IC 1396 is a very large ionized gas region in the constellation Cepheus. The entire region is ionized by a triple star, HD 206267. I was just barely able to resolve the third star in the system and it took some careful work to keep it visible. It is visible just above the trunk structure in almost the exact centre of the image. This was my first mono narrow band capture using my new QHY294m and ZWO 7nm filters. It is an early season image taken as the nebula is just starting it's journey up the east side of Polaris. I started imaging every night with the nebula as low as 25*.  Editing has been a challenge and I am positive there lots of room for improvement. Learning the new camera has also been some work. In Bin1 mode it has amazing resolution but it is very unforgiving compared to OSC cameras with much larger pixels. But it has been a joy and I look forward to many more projects with it.
