Description

M81, also known as the Bode Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy located, in fact, about 12 million light years from Earth, in the boreal constellation of Ursa Major.
It is a rather bright galaxy and the photo allows to see the structure of the core, much brighter than the peripheral regions, which seem to gradually fade into the darkness of the sky background. The core, which has a supermassive black hole, is also composed of a series of intricate nebulous filaments made up of a system of dark gas and dust.
The galaxy is estimated to contain approximately 250 billion stars, making it slightly smaller than our own Milky Way. It has a diameter of 90,000 light years and has a rotation on its axis of 300 km / sec.
The photo is a sum of poses over the span of 7 evenings in the month of March and is more than 30 hours of exposure time.
