Description

Omega Centauri, the most spectacular globular cluster in our skies.   Made up of 10 million stars and 150 light years across, it's a spectacular sight if you're at the right latitude.      I can just barely see it in the Florida keys.  Omega Centauri was first identified as being non-stellar is 1677 by Edmond Halley and is approximately 17 light years from our own solar system.   Omega Centauri is also thought by some to be a failed dwarf galaxy and could have a black hole at its center.
