Description

NC 4631 is a barred galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. Located approx 25 million lights years away, the whale galazy, as it is sometimes called, is similar in size and shape to our own Milky Way. Just above is the small elipiical galaxy NGC 4627, below and to the left is NGC 4656, more commonly referred to as the Hockey stick or Crowbar galaxy.
