Description

Messier 13 (M13) or the Great Hercules Cluster is a globular cluster in the constellation of Hercules. M 13 ist composed of several hundred thousand stars, with estimates varying from around 300,000 to over half a million. The diameter ist about 145 Light-years. M13 is 22,000–25,000 light-years away from Earth and the globular cluster is one of over hundred that orbit the center of the Milky Way. The image shown is a composite from 3 recording sessions, namely in 2022 and twice in May 2024. The recording location was the Schuir district in Essen Germany, Bortle 6 to 7. No filter was used.
