Description

Just for fun, I wanted to see how many galaxies I could fit in a frame of my telescope & camera, so I pointed the rig at the Perseus Cluster, centered around the elliptical galaxy NGC 1267.

Now, the Perseus cluster is one of the biggest objects in the universe, and is made up of thousands of galaxies, immersed in a cloud of gas. My image doesn't show the gas, but does contain about 350 galaxies!

Click on the images to enlarge and then cruise around and explore.

All of those galaxies are full of billions of stars. It's completely mindboggling how much there is out there that we'll never know.
