Description

In my astronomy club (galileo-limburg.nl) we have a quarterly observation goal, which happens to be M3 for this season.

Although the equipment is not perfect for globs, I had a go at it anyhow and did all data in a couple of hours between dusk and moonrise.

I had to do extremely short subs to keep the stars from burning out:

1.4s for Luminance (150 subs)

5s for R, G and B (100 subs each)

bringing the total integration time to a little over 28 minutes.

Most of the imaging time was actally used for downloading and dithering.

In order to get some kind of resolution on this target I decided to go for drizzle integration, since the guiding graph suggested the seeing was good enough that night.

I used no flats for this target, since I did a heavy crop and M3 was centered on the sensor. Still I had some reflections to get rid of which I did by doing artificial flats with a PixInSight script I developed some time ago. If anybody wants to try out the script, just let me know and I am happy to share.

Please zoom in on the glob, there are actually quite a lot of stars visible, although not very bright.
