Description

Sh2-119 is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus.  It is located about 2 degrees west of the North America Nebula, 9 degrees west of the bright star Deneb and seems to envelop the star 68 Cygni in the center of the image.  Its distance from earth is estimated at 2200 light years.   A planetary nebula, cataloged as Wein 2-245, is located just below and right of 68 Cygni.  (UPDATED:  As pointed out by Dana Patchick in the comments below, Wein 2-245 is an HII region and not a planetary nebula.)

I encourage you to take a moment to view the image in full resolution on a quality monitor and experience the maximum deep space effect.  Thanks.
