Description

Baade's Window is an area of the sky with relatively low amounts of interstellar dust along the line of sight from Earth. This area is considered an observational "window" as the normally obscured Galactic Center of the Milky Way is visible in this direction. It is named for astronomer Walter Baade, who first recognized its significance. The window is now known to be slightly "south" of the main central galaxy bulge. The window is irregular in outline and subtends about 1 degree of the sky. It is centered on the globular cluster NGC 6522 [Wiki].

My friend told me about this region and since then it became my number 1 priority! It's a bummer not many people are photographing this area. This is truly a hidden gem.

I used the L-Pro filter as the IR-cut because of the absence of alternatives. IR-cut, based on my prior experience, is truly needed with any modified camera. Otherwise, the imperfect glass will bloat the stars and create a blur of an image.

Took this picture on the 24th of August which was a Ukrainian Independence Day!

Title: Main Subjects of the Frame Annotated

Description: The main idea of the picture was to frame star clusters NGC 6522, NGC 6528, and Sgr A* Central Black Hole. These three objects are located roughly at the same distance from us, being ~25 kly, but Sgr A* is covered by the thick layers of dust, and two clusters are not. X Sagittarii is marked for reference.
