Description

M66, on the left, is a barred-spiral galaxy with a weak bar and loosely-wound arms about 30 Mly away. On the right is M 65, some 40 Mly away. Note the differences: M 66 has lots of blue star-forming regions and reddish HII regions, while M 65 has comparatively little of these and is mostly the yellowish color of older stars. Why the difference? Taken on March 20, 2023 and processed using 123 45-sec exposures at 400 iso.
