Description

NGC 3718 in LRGB

I took @JulianR 's advice and removed stars during processing. Worked great. The image was taken over a couple of nights.

I used a new PrimaLuce Lab 2" focuser. My previous Celestron focuser used to adjust the mirror directly would not work at cold temperatures (<0F), the mirror would be too difficult for the focuser to move.  The new focuser worked great - temperatures were around 0F. I had found that there was some discussion about getting the back focus right by using this type of focus. I found that the focus changed by 1-2mm during the night. So the back focus could be a concern. The other option would be to readjust the main mirror sometime during the night to get back to the 146mm back focus required. I think staying within +/- 1mm would be really good and in this case maybe it is more like +/- 2mm. I initially adjusted the mirror as recommended by PrimaLuce Lab - set the back focus distance to 146mm and then adjust the main mirror to get good focus.
