Description

This is my favorite moon image I've done so far, full moon from March 17, 2022.

Took 120s videos of each L, R, G, and B filters on the ASI260MM Pro using a ROI in FireCapture.  Each filter with gain=0 and gamma=50, exposure set so histogram peak was about 50%:  L=1.5ms, R=5ms, G=4.5ms, B=4.5ms.

Initial processing in AstroSurface and I decided only to use wavelet for the L filter.  I did need the unprocessed L stack though.  PixInsight's star alignment works for lunar but it needed the raw L to align R, G, and B.  A few things I did different to the luminance this time that were interesting.  First I did an initial 2 passes of sharpening with UnsharpMask, but applying 50% only.  Then used local histogram transformation 4 times with different kernel sizes, from larger to smaller (128, 64 twice, and 32).  Contrast was 2.0, higher than I usually use for DSO.  And amount of just 0.1!  From there it's curves and SCNR for the RGB color to taste, some curves on L to get better contrast, LRGBC, and a final few minor tweaks with curves in K and S.  RGB was saturated before LRGBC, careful to mask areas that would be blown out in saturation later (had to try a few times to get it right!)

Description: Re-processed with an eye to a brighter result based on feedback. Also calibrated my monitors finally, though I don't think it made much difference in the result for this image.
