Description

The reward for the long gray days and waiting for clear nights.
NGC2264 or also called the Christmas Tree Cluster. The exposure time is almost 4 hours. Taken with a 130 / 650 Newton telescope yesterday evening on my terrace. The image processing took almost the same time, almost 5 hours. Had to re-stack everything again 🙂🖖
NGC 2264 describes an area consisting of part of an H-II region (with a preceding dark cloud, the Cone Nebula), a star cluster (the Christmas Tree Star Cluster), and the diffuse nebula in between. Located about 2500 light-years away in the constellation of the Unicorn, it has dimensions 40.0' × 40.0' and an apparent magnitude of 4.1.
