Description

This object is a tiny, obscure magnitude 12 planetary nebula located 9000 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus at a declination of +40 degrees. The nebula spans 30 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of just over 1 light year.

The full name of this PN is Humason 1-2, which has been nicknamed the "mini dumbbell". I could find very little information on this object. The structure of this PN is interesting and unusual.

I believe this is the first Astrobin image of this object and the first color image of it that I could find anywhere. But I could be wrong about that - these obscure PN sometimes can be found in searches by their other names, in this case PK 086-08 1, PN G086.5-08.8, and PN VV 267, among others. The color of this PN suggests strong OIII content but not much Ha.
