First light for my ZWO 585MC. What started as a hoped EEA session, only lasted 30 minutes with one target due to clouds. Although it was live-stacked using SharpCap and I could have just used the resulting stack, I decided instead to use the raw frames and put them through a standard workflow using PixInsight to really give the camera a chance to shine.
I am very impressed by the result. Despite being very slightly out of focus, having guiding issues, and only being around 30 minutes total integration. It really is not too bad!
Processing was fairly minimal:
PixInsight:
- Photometric Colour Calibration
- Automatic Background Neutralisation
- NoiseXterminator
- EZ-SoftStretch (I originally used GHS, but felt for this target Soft-Stetch gave slightly better results)
- Histogram to clip shadows.
- Curves - Slight saturation, slight S-Curve
Photoshop:
- CameraRaw - Very minimal noise and sharpening (More to get rid of any colour noise)
- Vibrance
- Smaller Stars
