Description

Better focus, better seeing and better guiding, has resulted in a much nicer image of this globular cluster lying 36,000 LY away in the ‘hunting dogs’. M3 is one of the brightest, with 500,000 stars, and ‘younger’ than many at ~8 billion yers old. It contains 274 variable stars so will need to get our resident Astrobin expert @sky-watcher (johny) to analyse these for us. It is also notable for having  higher concentration of metallic elements.

After a good night of imaging, M3 was well placed in the wee hours, for a short integration. Just 38m has provided a nice level of detail, and saturation to show off the glorious colours of these metal rich stars, old and young. As ever, your feedback and comments are very . welcome.
