Description

Trying two new experiments:
  1. Longer focal length in less than perfect seeing vs medium focal length/wider field (but then cropping)
  2. OSC Quadband filter to recreate an HOO

Palette results seem to be unique and interesting, but I had to keep reminding myself this isn't SHO with dedicated filters for each spectrum. SHO has more tools in the toolbox so to speak to emphasize more variety in the signal colors, but this is fun when you only have one night to get the data and it may be months before another clear night comes around.

I'm pleased at what was acquired on a very cold and windy night (which is why I went with wider field scope (vs an SCT), reducer and cropped), but if wind wasn't a problem... I'd probably go with longer focal length whenever possible if conditions permit.
