Description

This was taken last night near Portal, AZ, in what should be a Bortle 1 zone roughly. Every 15 minutes it sounded like 20 coyotes were engaged in actual warfare with each other, so I spent most of the night in the car letting things run lol. I was doubtful that my stock DSLR would manage to pick up much, but it did better than I had expected.

Equipment:
Nikon D750(stock)
Nikon 85mm f/1.8G
SkyWatcher Star Adventurer ProAcquisition:
Lights: 31x 180s at f/4 ISO 1600
Darks: 20
Bias: 102, not included due to bizarre noise stripes they introduced
Flats: None, had issues in field, used Lens Profiles in Camera Raw

Processing:
Stacked in DeepSkyStacker
Processed in Photoshop with both GradientXTerminator and StarXTerminator from RC Astro
Starnet++ also used in conjunction with StarXTerminator

Workflow: Levels to align RGB channels, then use SXT and Starnet to make starless files. Levels and curves to progressively stretch the data. Camera Raw to adjust the hue to make the magenta more red. Multiple stars only layers made and progressively layered to enhanced the large stars and subdue the small stars since the starfield is so dense here. Just kept easing the data out. Used some masked noise reduction as well. Then mixed everything back together.
