Description

The N11 complex is an extremely large HII star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), seen within the Dorado constellation. It is second only in size to the more famous Tarantula Nebula.

The blue coloured ‘beans’, including NGC 1763 and NGC1769, shine incredibly brightly amongst all the other objects of interest.

The picture was formed by combining individual images taken with three different filters: ionised Hydrogen (Ha), Oxygen (OIII) and Sulphur (SII). It was processed in PixInsight using the Hubble Space Telescope palette (Red = SII, Green = Ha, Blue = OIII) and a synthetic luminance blended from all three colour components.
