Description

I seldom image galaxies but I was intrigued by the image of NGC 4725 & 4712 taken by my friend, Gary Imm (https://astrob.in/20ts5o/0/).  NGC 4725 is an intermediate barred spiral galaxy with a prominent ring structure located in the northern constellation of Coma Berenices near the north galactic pole.  It is 40 million light-years from Earth.  I only had a few hours under high thin clouds and I really needed to double my luminance frames, but I was delighted to get something out of my effort.  However, to really appreciate the beauty of NGC 4725, take a look at Gary's image.  Despite appearing much smaller in our apparent field of view, NGC4712 is much larger than NGC4725 in actual size but is five times further away at 200 million light years so it appears much smaller to us.
