Description

NGC3077 is a dwarf irregular galaxy of peculiar morphology. It is similar in form to an elliptical or lenticular galaxy with a brighter core and faint outer enveloppe. There are several fiamentary dust lanes radiating outward from the core to the outer enveloppe. The resolution in individual stars is difficult despite the fact that this galaxy a member of the M81/M82 group, is nearby, at a distance of approximately 5.4 million light years.
