Description

Probably my favourite region of our night sky. The Gammy cygni Nebula or Butterfly Nebula and the star Sadr.
The Butterfly Nebula can be found in the constellation Cygnus and is an emission nebula. The nebula has the catalogue designation IC 1318 and can be seen from the northern hemisphere during Summer. The nebula is about 4'900 light years away from the solar system. This nebula is also known as Gamma Cygni Nebula. This image is in the public domain and can be used freely. Within the public domain, you also do not have to name me if you publish this image, although you can do so if you wish. So if you want to use my images and documents, please do so.
