Description

This galaxy is part of the "Local Group" of galaxies with our Milky Way and Andromeda galaxy.

📍2.7 million light years away
📍Under dark skies, it can be seen with the naked eye.
📍30,000 light years across in radius 
📍Located in constellation Triangulum.
📍It was probably discovered by Italian astronomer, Giovanni Hodierna, in 1654.
📍But independently re-discovered by the prolific astronomer, Charles Messier, in 1764 and became M33 in the Messier catalog.
