Description

Sh2-206 is an emission nebula located in the constellation of Perseus. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1790. The strong radiation emitted by the central blue star of magnitude 11 produces a half bubble effect in the surrounding gas. The boundary between ionized and non-ionized gas is probably the cause of curtain fold image.

I used a color camera (QHY10) with an IDAS LPS-P2 filter for the main shots. I also took numerous images with the L-Enhance and L-Extreme filters, but the total exposure was insufficient to add it to the luminance. I tried to use the red channel of the shots with these filters as H alpha in the PNBRGB script of PI, but the effect was not very noticeable.

The starting master light revealed an uninspiring nebula in color and contrasts, with bright stars on a faint object, easily saturated. To the luminance contrasts I tried to add color contrasts that would highlight the different regions of the nebula. In several steps I had to separate the stars to avoid saturation.
