Description

I had a good clear night (finally) a couple of days ago and went out with my new and as yet unused FLAT8 reducer (0.72x) and my William Optics FLT132 to get some first light with it.  I capture around 2.5 hours of M101 (see the image in my gallery) and then I moved to LDN 1235 to attempt to capture the Shark Nebula.  This is a really hard target to acquire, especially with an OSC, but I wanted to see if the FLT132 with the reducer would manage to capture the detail of the dust lanes giving shape to "The Shark"' 's head.

I managed to get  4h35m integration time and I have to say that I wish I could get more clear nights as it probably requires 3x that.  This is a target that has got me thinking again about going monochrome.   Post-processing has been quite challenging too, but overall I'm pleased with the results.

Thanks for looking.

Clear Skies
